There are more than one million people over the age of twelve in Sweden who have not taken their first dose.

Therefore, a national vaccination week is now being carried out throughout the country.

In Jönköping County, there are approximately 38,000 people over the age of twelve who have not taken their first dose, and just over 50,000 people who could take dose three who have not yet done so.

- The interest is lower than we would have liked, says David Edenvik who is an assistant infection control doctor in the Jönköping County Region.

He says that interest in taking the third dose began to decline in the weeks before the restrictions were lifted.

In the clip above, David Edenvik tells how the county residents' holiday plans can be affected if they are not fully vaccinated.

New vaccine offered

From this week, Region Jönköping County also offers the vaccine Nuvaxovid from Novavax for vaccination against covid -19.

The region already vaccinates with Pfizer biontech's vaccine Comirnaty and Moderna's vaccine Spikevax.

After a medical assessment, it can also be given to people who have not tolerated the other vaccines, or to people with immunodeficiency who have not developed immune responses after three or more doses of so-called mRNA vaccine.

The vaccine from Novavax is considered comparable to other available vaccines in terms of effect and side effects, even though the experience at present is significantly greater with the two available vaccines.

Novavax vaccine is approved for people who are 18 years or older, and not for pregnant women.
