App taxi drivers who drive for Uber and Bolt, among others, now demand that the government act quickly and ensure that those who work via digital platforms are paid better and have a greater opportunity to influence working conditions.

According to Omid and John, 200 drivers and hauliers have organized.

- Something has to happen now.

You have to be creative as a government, says John.

Serious situation according to the government

In a report to the government, the Swedish Work Environment Authority states that the current work environment legislation is insufficient for those who work via digital platforms such as food delivery and app taxi drivers.

- It is extra serious when the authority also points out that the work environment risks in the platform sector are higher than in other workplaces, says Deputy Minister of Labor Johan Danielsson (S).

The government is now working on a further investigation to bring about employer responsibility, but there is nothing that impresses Omid and John.

We have searched both Bolt and Uber for a comment.

The former has not answered SVT's questions but Uber writes in an email:

"Following feedback from partner drivers, and as a result of the price development, we implemented a price increase for all travel services on our platform on March 1, and we continue to look at different ways to support drivers."

In the video, John and Omid talk about the drivers' situation.
