The Gironde prefecture announced on Monday the closure of the Al Farouk mosque in Pessac for a period of six months.
This decision follows a contradictory procedure initiated on February 24th.
The mosque, managed by the association "Rassemblement des Musulmans de Pessac", promotes "radical Islam and conveys a Salafist ideology" indicates the prefecture in a press release.
Sermons and remarks “regularly incited not to respect the laws of the Republic, justified the attacks and valued death as a martyr.
This mosque also broadcasts “hateful publications against Israel.
It encourages identity withdrawal and condemns Muslims who do not share their rigorous vision of Islam.

“Salafist ideology”
Finally, still according to the prefecture, “it regularly welcomes imams known for their closeness to radical Islam and their Salafist ideology, and supports terrorist organizations or entities or individuals promoting radical Islam.
»
Under the terms of the law of 1905 and the internal security code, all of these facts constitute remarks made, ideas and theories disseminated, or activities inciting violence, hatred or discrimination, and “ justify such a temporary closure.
»
Violation of the measure is punishable by six months' imprisonment and a fine of 7,500 euros, specifies the prefecture.
