China News Service, Beijing, March 14 (Reporter Li Jingze) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian hosted a regular press conference on March 14.

A reporter asked: According to reports, the United Nations Security Council held a meeting on the 11th to review the biosecurity issue in Ukraine.

US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Thomas Greenfield said at the meeting that China is spreading false information to support Russia. What is China's comment on this?

Zhao Lijian: Biological military activities in Ukraine are a common concern of the international community.

According to public disclosures a few days ago, dozens of biological laboratories in Ukraine are operated in accordance with the orders of the US Department of Defense, and the US has invested more than 200 million US dollars in these laboratory activities.

The purpose of the relevant research on the US side is to establish a mechanism for the covert transmission of the deadly virus pathogen.

Russian officials said that Russia has discovered more than 30 biological laboratories affiliated to the United States in Ukraine, and related projects have been urgently destroyed, but traces of pathogens such as plague and anthrax have been found.

U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Nuland admitted that Ukraine "has biological research facilities" and that the U.S. side is cooperating with the Ukrainian side to prevent those "research materials" from falling into the hands of the Russian military.

The US media also said that the US government lied about the issue of secret biological laboratories in Ukraine and concealed from the American public the real purpose of supporting these laboratories.

WHO has advised Ukraine to destroy high-risk pathogens stored in the country's public health laboratories.

In the face of the documents, pictures, physical and other evidence found by Russia in Ukraine, the US side just used a word of "false information" to prevaricate it, which is difficult to explain and convince the public.

The US has always advertised the so-called "openness and transparency". If the US claims that this is "false information", why does it not release detailed information to prove its innocence?

Where did the $200 million funded by the US go?

What kind of pathogens has the US conducted research on?

The US embassy in Ukraine has deleted all relevant documents from its website, what are they trying to hide?

Why has the US exclusively opposed the establishment of a multilateral verification mechanism for the Biological Weapons Convention in the past 20 years?

If the US wants to prove its innocence, why does it not open these biological laboratories for independent investigation by international experts?
