Conference of Presidents Aragonès's rudeness to the King and the presidents: he does not attend the family photo in La Palma
PP Feijóo opens today as opposition to Sánchez in the Conference of Presidents: he asks to lower taxes
Unit in the repulse;
unity regarding the European response;
unit for economic strengthening.
This will be the essence of
the La Palma agreements
.
The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has called on the autonomies to "leave partisan interests aside" and unify all voices so that Spain rows in one direction against the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
This is the main request of the head of the Executive at the
Conference of Presidents
that is being held this Sunday in
Los Llanos de Aridane
, on the island of
La Palma
, and in which all the regional leaders will address, together with Sánchez, the Spanish response not only to the war, but to the consequences and the economic impact that our country already feels as part of the European Union.
It is for this reason that the president has asked to "leave aside the partisan fight" for the management of European funds, which are "a fundamental element to consolidate economic recovery."
The Popular Party has been denouncing for weeks an unequal distribution of aid from the recovery funds.
A month ago, in fact, the
popular
once again raised in Congress the need for an independent body to coordinate the distribution of aid.
"It is essential that we put aside the partisan struggle," Sánchez stressed, "and speed up the management of the funds."
A "fight" that, he has asserted, "is legitimate", but it is not what citizens are asking for in these moments of uncertainty.
Thus, Spain needs certainty and the funds -which were already decisive for economic reconstruction before the conflict in Ukraine broke out- are the key tool to focus on the future.
And the Government needs the support of the autonomies and the political groups in full.
The president already advanced this Saturday that he would ask the regions to "put their shoulders together" on this issue.
This is one of the four legs of the package of measures that the president has presented to the regional leaders, meeting this Sunday in full for the first time in the last decade.
Thus, the Government hopes that the magnitude of the call will translate into a total pact between autonomies, something that Sánchez has baptized as
The La Palma Agreements,
in relation to and tribute to the exemplary nature and spirit of improvement shown by the palmeros during the months of eruption of the Cumbre Vieja.
In addition to "unity" in the management of funds, the president explained in his appearance that he will ask the autonomies for a joint plan to jointly coordinate the reception of refugees from Ukraine, and has stressed the need to reach the European Council on March 24 with "the largest of units" and get all the European partners to weave a response to avoid being "hostages" of the "energy blackmail" of the "Putin regime".
In the same way, Sánchez asks the autonomies, as well as the social agents and the parliamentary groups, for maximum support to develop the
National Plan for Response to the Impact of the War
and thus achieve "dimension exactly which sectors are going to be affected", in the image and likeness of the agreements adopted in response to the effects of the pandemic.
