Reports: Putin arrests senior army and intelligence officers who misled him with false information about the war!
Media reports revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin likely carried out an internal purge of military generals, intelligence personnel and security services, and placed some of them under house arrest due to the failure in Ukraine.
According to the British newspaper, "The Times", Sergey Beseda, head of the foreign intelligence branch of the Russian Federal Security Service, was arrested along with his deputy, Anatoly Bulyukh, according to a leading expert in the Russian security services.
"Sources within the FSB have confirmed the detention of the two men," said Andrei Soldatov, co-founder and editor-in-chief of Agentura, an investigative website that monitors the FSB and other agencies.
Vladimir Usishkin, an exiled Russian human rights activist, confirmed the arrests.
"The arrest of the intelligence chief confirms Putin's growing anger towards the intelligence services, which are believed to have provided false information about the situation in Ukraine," Soldatov told The Times.
"Putin finally understood that he had been misled," he added.
Beseda, 68, is the head of the "Fifth Circle" branch of foreign intelligence, which is responsible for collecting intelligence in Ukraine.
Bulich, 66, heads the Operational Information Division, which is part of the Fifth District.
The Russian Federal Security Service, officially a domestic security service, was created in the late 1990s, when Putin was director of enforcement orders for operations in the former Soviet Union.
According to an analysis by the Institute for the Study of War, a Washington-based think tank, Putin has fired eight top military leaders for their failure during the ongoing battles in Ukraine.
The Russian president also arrested several members of the Fifth Service of the Russian Federal Security Service, which is responsible for informing Putin of the political situation in Ukraine.
The institute added that reports that the Federal Protection Service and the Ninth Directorate of the Federal Security Service (its Department of Homeland Security) raided the Fifth Service and more than 20 other locations on Friday.
Independent Russian media reported that the Fifth Service may have provided Putin with false information about the political situation in Ukraine before the invasion, and that a war there would be a smooth task.
