Road hauliers protested this Saturday morning against the rise in fuel prices.

Two snail operations were organized at the initiative of the group of French transporters which caused delays.

Drivers and bosses came to show their dissatisfaction.

About sixty road hauliers mobilized on the A1 towards Lille this Saturday morning to protest against the increase in the price of gasoline. 

"2,000 euros full, it is no longer possible"

Among them, Alain, owner of a small road transport company: "Me, on Monday, I cannot work and start my truck. It costs me money. Before, with a truck and two tanks, we did the full for around 1,300-1,400 euros. There, we manage to spend 2,000 euros, it is no longer possible…"

“There is an emergency,” says Alain, because some road hauliers are currently living on their cash flow but it cannot last forever, as Vianney Boeykens, member of the group and head of a transport company, explains.

"If things don't change, I'm thinking of putting my drivers on leave. I support five families, that's not nothing. But I don't want to tell them overnight 'We're closing up shop', that's not That's not the goal. We want solutions."

The solution: lower taxes? 

A solution could be to lower taxes or to have a specific fuel similar to sea fishermen.

"These snail operations are a cry of alarm", affirms this carrier but if nothing is done.

"We will no longer be able to work so we will block the whole country", he concludes.
