In recent weeks, the hunting shops in Västerbotten have experienced increased pressure on sales.

There are different types of protective equipment that were used when private individuals bunkered up.

- We have noticed an increased interest in storm kitchens, stoves and ammunition.

The store is almost running out and I think people want to feel that they have some form of readiness, says Lena Boholm, co-owner of Jaktgården in Skellefteå.

Even at Jaktia in Umeå, the shelves echo empty on cooking utensils that can be used without electricity.

Storm kitchens and gas heaters are what have been used the most and the staff has had to place several extra orders.

- People seem to be worried that Russia will come here.

Colleagues in the south have received a lot of inquiries about commercial radio from organizations, says Jonas Wrandig, shop assistant at Jaktia in Umeå.

Increased pressure on ammunition

There is also an increase in the sale of ammunition.

- I think that the increased sales of ammunition may be due to people being afraid that sales may be stopped in the future, Lena Boholm reasons.

The shop assistant Åsa Olofsson at Jaktia in Vilhelmina shares that picture:

- It is not about people defending themselves, but you want to make sure that it exists if there is a shortage of ammunition.

We also saw this behavior during the pandemic when there was a fear that production would stop.

Concerns in the stores

- Many customers want to talk about what is happening in the store.

We notice a concern and many discussions are about what will happen in the future, says Lena Boholm.

The concern has also been expressed in the Jaktia stores, in Umeå and Vilhemina.

- People talk more about it now and show greater interest in liquor kitchens and that type of readiness, says Åsa Olofsson.
