A 22-year-old young man died while descending a ski slope in a kayak in the Hautacam area, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, this Saturday.
According to the gendarmes, the victim died in the morning following a violent impact with a pylon of a ski lift.
He used his boat as a sledge, a risky practice on hard snow, according to the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (PGHM) of Pierrefitte-Nestalas.
The firefighters and the gendarmes of the PGHM, who arrived quickly on the spot, could not save the young man.
The latter was from the valley where the Hautacam estate is located, in the Hautes-Pyrénées, a resort closed for a week and the end of school holidays.
