His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stressed that providing a food safety net for the poor and hungry is a moral responsibility, and a humanitarian commitment from the UAE to the world.

This came during His Highness’ announcement of the launch of the “One Billion Meals” initiative, the largest in the region, to provide food support for up to one billion meals to the poor and hungry in 50 countries, starting from the first of the blessed month of Ramadan, and to maintain the qualitative results achieved by the previous Ramadan campaign, which distributed 220 million A meal, where the number will be completed, up to one billion meals, and contribute to the fight against hunger and malnutrition in the world, especially among vulnerable groups of women and children, refugees and displaced persons, and victims of disasters and crises. This comes after completing the "100 Million Meals Campaign", to feed food in the Arab world, Africa, Asia, Europe and South America, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on the eve of the start of the blessed month of Ramadan last year, and organized by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. Achieving its goals, in cooperation with the World Food Programme, the Regional Food Banks Network, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charitable and Humanitarian Establishment, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the Emirates Food Bank. As for the World Food Program of the United Nations, it reached distributions within the campaign to the less fortunate, refugees and displaced persons, distributing the equivalent of 56 million meals in various regions, and refugee and displacement camps, in which it worked with the "100 Million Meals" campaign.

Meanwhile, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment distributed the equivalent of 6.3 million meals in the countries in which it worked to contribute to the distribution of meals for the "100 million meals" campaign.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees distributed the equivalent of eight million meals in a number of countries, which undertook the distribution of meals for the "100 Million Meals" campaign.

The remaining meals were distributed, in cooperation with the other partners of the "100 Million Meals Campaign" in the various 47 countries included in the distribution operations.

The series had started in Ramadan 2020 with the “10 Million Meals” campaign, which was a direct response to the repercussions of the “Covid-19” pandemic challenge on the vulnerable and lower-income groups, and at that time it constituted a lifeline for many, and a message of comprehensive societal solidarity in the UAE with individuals and families who They lost their sources of income, due to the conditions and circumstances imposed by the global epidemic.
