The EU-European Union held a summit meeting in France and agreed that each country would significantly increase defense costs in response to the situation in Ukraine, and from the state of dependence on Russia for importing energy resources such as natural gas and oil. We also agreed to break away as soon as possible.

As Russia's military invasion of Ukraine continued, the EU held a two-day summit in Versailles, France.

The Leaders' Declaration issued on the 11th showed a stance against Russia, such as taking more responsibility for the security of Europe and taking decisive measures to reduce dependence on the outside of the region.

They also agreed to significantly increase defense spending and to phase out the import of energy resources such as natural gas, oil and coal as soon as possible from their dependence on Russia.

EU President Michelle said, "We need a plan to ensure Europe's sovereignty and strategic independence. This declaration will be historic."

EU President Ursula von der Leyen has also set a concrete goal of 2027 as the time to break the dependence of natural gas and oil on Russia, and has indicated that he will put together a concrete proposal by mid-May. ..
