On Thursday, media reported that the Ukrainian armed forces managed to eliminate a prominent Russian military commander who had been awarded the "Order for Courage" by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Belarusian "Nexta" network reported that the Ukrainian army killed Colonel Andrei Zakharov, commander of a Russian tank regiment, during battles in the Brovary region near the capital, Kyiv.

In 2016, Zakharov was personally awarded the "Order for Courage" by Putin, according to the same source.

The Ukrainian military has shot down four Russian Su-25 aircraft, according to local media, with the Russia-Ukrainian war entering its 15th day.
