A large number of people in Sweden are dependent on payments of pensions, child allowances, parental benefits and a number of other benefits.

Now the government wants to review how to be able to guarantee that the payments also work in wartime.

- We must strengthen Sweden in this situation, and an important part is to ensure war-proof payments of pensions, health insurance, child allowances and parental benefits.

Försäkringskassan is now tasked with securing these payments in the event of war or danger of war, says Minister of Social Insurance Ardalan Shekarabi (S) to SVT.

Therefore, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency has been commissioned to review how the payments can be made.

An interim report will be submitted in June, and a final report in November.

- Försäkringskassan can look further at which tools we need to use, says Ardalan Shekarabi.

Why are you doing this?

- The changed situation in our world, we must increase preparedness and strengthen Sweden.

What do you see in front of you that could happen?

- Among other things, it is about cyber attacks and digital disruptions, so it is important that we are able to pay pensions, child benefits and other benefits regardless of the dangers our country is exposed to.
