If Russia's invasion of Ukraine looks, for now, like a conventional war, its heavy documentation on social media makes it very modern.

And the TikTok account of Valeria Shashenok, who regularly posts videos of her daily life under the bombs, is one of the (very) many examples.

The threat of “bombs above our heads”

Like millions of her compatriots, this 20-year-old Ukrainian took refuge with her parents in an underground shelter.

"We sleep here, we eat here, we lead a simple life," she says.

But her apparent joie de vivre contrasts with the harshness of her situation: “We must not go out between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m., explains Valeria.

Bombs have destroyed things so you never know when you'll hear one over your head."

"Every day, I say to myself 'it will be better tomorrow'... But no, it's getting worse and worse", laments the young girl, who confesses to trying "not to think about the war all the time, because it destroys internally”.

Before adding, with a half-smile, that all of this “is very shocking for my 20-year-old young brain”.
