Various reasons for the record price

Week after week recently, there have been reports of increased fuel prices, and increases from already record high levels.

Crude oil prices have skyrocketed on the world market and oil sanctions against the world's second largest exporter of crude oil, Russia, are one reason for the sharp rise in fuel prices.

The increasingly weaker krona also means that the fuel costs more.

The requirement for increased blending of biofuels in diesel and petrol, the so-called reduction obligation (read more in the fact box below) also affects fuel prices.

Minister of Finance Mikael Damberg (S) has this week said that the government is working on the issue of possible compensation to Swedish households, while the Moderates are proposing measures to quickly reduce fuel prices.
