The National Election Commission announced that as of 9 am today (9th), the turnout in the 20th presidential election was tentatively counted at 8.1%.

According to the website of the National Election Commission, at 6 a.m. today at 14,464 polling stations across the country, 3.6 million people out of 44,197,692 voters completed their votes in the past three hours.

This is 1.3 percentage points lower than the 9.4 percentage points turnout in the same time period of the 2017 19th presidential election.

It seems that there is some dispersed effect due to the early voting, which recorded a turnout of 36.93%, a record high on the last 4-5 days.

As of 9 am, the region with the highest turnout was Daegu (9.7%), followed by Gyeonggi and Jeju with 8.9%.

The lowest place was Jeonnam (6.1%), followed by Jeonbuk (6.4%) and Gwangju (6.5%).

The turnout in Seoul was 7.8%.

In the preliminary voting, Jeonnam (51.45%) had the highest turnout, compared to Daegu (33.91%), Gyeonggi (33.65%), and Jeju (33.78%), which were below the average.

Early voting turnout will be added from the turnout that will be released at 1pm today.

There is also interest in whether the final turnout in the 20th presidential election will break the 80% line for the first time since the 15th presidential election in 1997.

The final turnout in the 19th presidential election was 77.2%.
