When most people think of a bicycle in general, they really imagine a hybrid bike, or hybrid bike.
It is the most common model today, especially when you do not want to close any doors regarding the practice of this hobby, which is also a sport.
Indeed, as its name suggests, the hybrid bike is intended to adapt to different types of roads, without specializing in one in particular.
It sits between the pure city bike, which usually doesn't have a derailleur to change gears, and the mountain bike, which is sturdier for tackling rough terrain.
However, it is still easy to confuse it with one or the other, which is why taking a close look at the technical data sheet of the model of your choice can be very useful.

What is the difference between a VTC and a mountain bike?
Differentiating a VTC from a mountain bike is not necessarily obvious at first sight, and yet, certain details diverge.
Hybrid bikes generally have fewer gears than mountain bikes: in most cases only a rear derailleur is found on hybrid bikes, while mountain bikes have a front derailleur and a another at the back.
However, exceptions exist.
As the VTC is less intended to travel on rough roads than the mountain bike, its frame is often rigid, where that of the mountain bike can be semi-rigid or fully suspended.
In addition, the VTC has elements that you never find on a mountain bike, such as a luggage rack or a transport basket at the front, accessories that are very practical in town, but much less useful in forest, for example.
