Russia, which invaded Ukraine, is engaged in a full-scale propaganda war targeting the international community.

The Daily Mail reported on the 7th (local time) that Russia used false information to justify its invasion of Ukraine.

The false information pointed out by the Daily Mail claims that Russia has identified traces of Ukraine's development of biological weapons.

Russia's defense ministry claims that Ukraine has been found to have conducted research that could be used against biological weapons, including plague and anthrax.

If Russia's claim is true, it is a violation of the Biological Weapons Convention (BWC), which prohibits the development and production of biological and toxic weapons.

The problem is that there is no basis for Russia's claims.

I just presented the documents that it was obtained from a Ukrainian research institute.

The Daily Mail pointed out that it was impossible to verify the authenticity of the documents.

He also explained that the claim that the other country is developing biological weapons is a claim that Russia likes to use.

In Russia, in January, claims that the US was running a biological weapons laboratory targeting Russia in Kazakhstan spread through a Telegram account.

Also in 2020, the Russian newspaper Izvestia published an article with a similar claim.

Russia is also accusing Ukraine of attempting to manufacture a 'dirty bomb' using plutonium at Chernobyl.

But again, the Daily Mail points out that no evidence was presented.

Earlier, the Ukrainian government had warned that Russia would enter into a war of propaganda using false information.

Some analysts believe that the propaganda war that even uses false information reflects the desperate situation of the Russian government.

Russia's Deputy Prime Minister for Energy, Alexander Novak, said on the same day that the international oil price would jump to more than $300 a barrel if the international community imposes an embargo on Russian oil.

On the same day, on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for April ended trading at $119.40 per barrel, the highest since 2008 based on the closing price due to news of the US reviewing the embargo on Russian crude oil.

However, experts are of the view that there will be no disruption to global crude oil supply, given that Russia accounts for only about 3% of US crude oil imports.
