The number of people admitted to the hospital in Kalmar has decreased from 55 people at the beginning of last week to 30 people now.

There are currently no patients at IVA.

The trend also shows that the number of people who tested positive has decreased.

- Several of these patients seek care for other diagnoses but are noted as positive for covid-19 in connection with testing before admission.

Therefore, the care pressure caused by covid-19 may be less than what is seen in the statistics, says infection control doctor Arsene Nzobandora.

He believes that we will have a healthier spring and summer ahead of us.

- A reduction in the number of covid-19 cases will continue in the coming weeks to settle at a low level during the spring and summer if we do not get a new variant.

In Kalmar County, we do not need to do more than what is recommended nationally, says Arsene Nzobandora.

Kronoberg

In Kronoberg County, the spread of infection has decreased in recent weeks, but last week it was unchanged.

- What it is due to is difficult to say and it can also be temporary, we do not know until the end of this week at the earliest, says Marie Lendahls, press secretary at the Krononberg region.

The number of people hospitalized in Kronoberg is 22 people, but even here it is empty at IVA.

High number of deaths

Despite the fact that the number of people admitted to hospitals in both counties has decreased, the number of deaths due to covid-19 is high.

There are four new deaths from last week in Kronober County, and in Kalmar County there are seven new deaths since last week.
