Prince Hamzah bin Al Hussein sent a letter of apology to his brother, King Abdullah II of Jordan, in which he acknowledged his mistake and assumed his national responsibility in what was known as the "issue of sedition."

Today, Tuesday, the Royal Hashemite Court issued a statement, announcing that King Abdullah had received a letter from Prince Hamzah asking for forgiveness for his "positions and abuses" against the King and Jordan, and the events that followed in the case of sedition.

He said that the months that have passed since the crisis last year provided "an opportunity for me to review myself and be honest with myself," expressing his hope "to turn that page in the history of Jordan and the family."

He added, "I apologize to Your Majesty, the Jordanian people, and our family for all these behaviors, which will not be repeated, with the permission of the Most Merciful."

And the statement of the Hashemite Court stated that Prince Hamzah raised his message to the King after his meeting last Sunday evening, at the request of the Emir.

The court said that the prince's apology is a step in the right direction to return to the role of princes in serving the country as mandated by the king.

On April 4 last year, Jordan announced preliminary investigations that showed Prince Hamzah's involvement with foreign parties in attempts to destabilize the country and mobilize citizens against the state, which the prince denied.

A day before that, the various security services arrested the former head of the royal court, Basem Awadallah, and others as part of these investigations.

In his message to the people, King Abdullah bin Al Hussein said that what he described as sedition has been annihilated.
