China News Service, Beijing, March 8. The work report of the Supreme People's Court and the work report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate were submitted to the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth National People's Congress for deliberation on the 8th.
Both reports dealt with the crime of trafficking in women and children, emphasizing "severe punishment" and "severe punishment" for such crimes.
The report of the Supreme People's Court disclosed that last year, 1.831 million marriage and family cases were concluded.
Resolutely opposed domestic violence, severely punished the perpetrators in accordance with the law, worked with the All-China Women's Federation to promote the implementation of personal safety protection orders and issued 3,356 protection orders to comprehensively strengthen the protection of women and children's rights and interests.
The report of the Supreme Law pointed out that the people's courts have accurately implemented the death penalty policy. For crimes that seriously endanger public safety and seriously affect the public's sense of security, and crimes that challenge the bottom line of law and ethics, such as the maiming of women, children, and the elderly, those crimes should be sentenced to death according to law. And approved the death penalty, resolutely safeguarding the authority of the rule of law.
Regarding the work arrangement in 2022, the Supreme People's Court said that cases involving people's livelihood such as education, employment, medical care, marriage and family will be properly tried.
Strengthen the protection of the rights and interests of women, children, the elderly and the disabled.
Severely punish crimes such as sexual assault, abducting and selling women and children, and buying abducted women and children, and strengthen judicial protection for abducted women and children.
According to the Supreme People's Procuratorate's report, from 2000 to 2021, the number of people prosecuted by procuratorial organs for abducting and trafficking in women and children dropped from 14,458 to 1,135, an average annual decrease of 11.4%; the number of people prosecuted for buying and selling abducted women and children increased from 155 to 328.
The Supreme People's Procuratorate's report pointed out that the prosecution of crimes of human trafficking will continue to be strict; at the same time, it will form a joint effort with relevant departments to comprehensively rectify the crimes, and resolutely prosecute and severely punish crimes of buying, not saving, or obstructing the rescue of abducted and trafficked women and children.
