SEHA opens a new blood donation location in Al Ain Mall

Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Services, managed by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA” under the supervision of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, announced the opening of a new blood donation site in Al Ain Mall, with the aim of facilitating blood donation operations.

The new blood donation site will open its doors to citizens and residents in the Al Ain region every Friday, from 5 pm until 10 pm, and is managed by a specialized medical team that can receive 50 donors.

Dr. Marwan Ali Al Kaabi, Acting Executive Director of Operations at SEHA, said: “The World Health Organization indicates that 90% of individuals who can donate blood do not currently do so, knowing that a whole blood unit may contribute, when needed, to saving the lives of approximately three individuals. Therefore, we are confident that facilitating individuals’ access to blood donation services through the new site will contribute to an increase in the percentage of donation in general, and we hope that it will be a positive step towards facilitating donors’ access to the specialized centers, in light of enhancing the awareness of all members of society of the importance of this humanitarian work.”

For her part, Director of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Services, Dr. Huda Khalfan Al Shamsi, said, "Blood banks play a pivotal role in saving countless individuals, but securing the necessary assistance becomes a major challenge unless we have sufficient quantities of blood to meet the needs of the huge number of patients. who desperately need it.”

She added that blood banks constantly need to provide regular quantities of blood to be presented to those in need, expressing the hope that improving donors' access to donation centers through the opening of the new location in Al Ain Mall will contribute to providing regular quantities of blood, in a manner that meets the needs and requirements of the Al Ain community and various hospitals. working in it.
