Today, Monday, an Israeli bombardment targeted the southern region of Syria, according to the official Syrian News Agency (SANA).

SANA said that the air defense forces responded to an "Israeli aggression that targeted the southern region," without referring to the damage caused by the bombing.

On its official Telegram channel, SANA published pictures showing "air defense missiles in the sky of Damascus", and the sounds of explosions were clearly heard in the capital.

In the past years, Israel has launched hundreds of air strikes in Syria, which have targeted Syrian army sites and Iranian and Lebanese Hezbollah targets, but the pace has become accelerating in recent weeks.

On February 24, 3 Syrian soldiers were killed in Israeli air strikes that targeted areas around the capital, Damascus.

In the same month, 4 Israeli air attacks were recorded inside Syria.

Israel rarely confirms carrying out strikes in Syria, but it reiterates that it will continue to confront what it describes as Iran's attempts to entrench its military presence in Syria.

Syria has been witnessing an armed conflict since 2011 that has killed about half a million people, caused massive damage to infrastructure, and led to the displacement of millions of people inside and outside the country.
