A 56-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months in prison with probation by the criminal court of Avignon (Vaucluse), Friday.

He was prosecuted for acts of violence and threats to others, indicates

La Provence.

The individual was alcoholic at the time of the events, November 19, 2021.

A conflict between wives

He had come to blows and had tried to strangle a general-purpose agent at the Avignon station with a cable.

A dispute between the wives of the two men would be at the origin of the violence.

Two young witnesses intervened to separate the two men until the intervention of security agents.

Once mastered, the respondent had threatened them with death.

In front of the judges, the 50-year-old acknowledged the facts.

His lawyer said "he was deeply hurt by the distress of his wife", herself "belittled in her work and humiliated by the companion" of the victim.

After deliberation, the defendant was finally released from the threats.
