A 30-year-old man was arrested last Thursday after a rape committed in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines) on February 27.

That day, a young woman who had just got off the train had been followed and then attacked in the middle of the street, reports

Le Parisien

.

She had been beaten and then raped, before being able to notify the emergency services once she had returned to the home of a relative.

Already known to the police

The suspect fled on another train.

He was able to be apprehended thanks, in particular, to the tracing of his Navigo pass.

The 30-year-old is already known to the police for sexual offences.

The 22-year-old victim has identified her attacker, but DNA testing is still ongoing.

The man was committed to a psychiatric hospital at the end of his police custody and was not indicted.

His mental state is incompatible with detention, specifies the Ile-de-France daily.
