NATO has given

the

'green light' to deliver fighter jets to the Ukrainian government so that it can deal with the Russian invasion.

This has been declared by the United States Secretary of State,

Toni Blinken,

in Moldova, a former Soviet republic bordering Ukraine, in which the Russian army has also created an independent pseudo-republic that only Moscow recognizes.

Blinken confirmed that the United States and Poland are negotiating a plan to give fighter-bombers to Ukraine in order for the latter country to defend itself against Russian invaders.

The project, which had been revealed on Saturday by 'The Wall Street Journal', consists of

Poland gives Ukraine fighter-bombers sold to it by the Soviet Union before the collapse of communism in 1991.

In exchange, the US would give Warsaw free F-16 jets.

Poland has 23 MiG-29 and 18 Su-24 and Su-27 ground-attack fighter-bombers.

Before Russia invaded, Ukraine had 37 MiG-29s and 44 Su-24s and Su-27s.

Thus, the Ukrainian pilots could operate the aircraft given to them by the Poles

without violating the commitment of the NATO countries to enter the conflict

for fear of triggering a war with Russia.

However, the Vladimir Putin regime could consider the arrival of the Polish planes in Ukraine as

an escalation of hostilities.

The Moscow government yesterday threatened countries that send planes to Ukraine.

The delivery of Polish fighter-bombers to Ukraine would mean a

considerable change in the relationship of forces in the conflict,

where Russia has an overwhelming numerical advantage in air force.

Despite this air superiority, the Russian Air Force has performed dismally in the war, and its planes have failed to achieve air supremacy in Ukraine.

Russian military aviation has been totally ineffective, to the point that most of its missions seem to be the bombing of cities to terrorize civilians.
