The Halland region estimates that 190 people will be needed in women's healthcare in the next five years, according to a report to Sweden's municipalities and regions (SKR).

The forecast includes maternal health care, maternity care, neonatal care and other specialist care.

A total of 100 midwives are needed, of which 35 in maternal health care and 65 in maternity care.

Can be addressed by politicians

The desire for a midwifery education has not been raised by politicians.

The chairman of the Regional Board, Mikaela Waltersson (M), believes that this is primarily an issue for the university, but that politicians can also look at it.
