SVT's broadcasters Samir Abu Eid and Salim Alsabbagh are in the city of millions in Lviv in the western parts of Ukraine.

The situation there is relatively calm at the same time as the war rages on in eastern and central Ukraine.

At the same time, unrest is also growing in Lviv after Russia took over the largest nuclear power plant in the country and there were reports of fighting and fires in the area.

- There are other nuclear power plants in the country, one is not far from areas that Russia controls and this invasion seems to continue, he says.

Many have changed - want to leave the city

Since Putin has said he wants to take over the whole of Ukraine, many people, who just a few days ago had no plans to leave the country, have now changed their minds.

- A young woman I spoke to said that since the fighting is only escalating, she and her mother and sisters will leave the country, he says.

Many are afraid that the war will lead to a new Iron Curtain and that the border between Ukraine and Poland will be closed.

- They do not want to live under Russian rule and therefore leave.

I have met many refugees in the border area near Poland, many have somewhere to go and want to get to safety, he says.
