North Korea launched an armed provocation ahead of the presidential election.

It is the ninth missile test launch this year, six days after the resumption of armed demonstrations on the 27th of last month.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a text message sent to the reporters on the 5th, "North Korea fired a ballistic missile into the East Sea from the Sunan area in Pyongyang around 8:48 am."

The Joint Chiefs of Staff explained that the North Korean-launched ballistic missile had a flight range of 270 km and an altitude of 560 km, and that South Korean and US intelligence officials are analyzing specific specifications.

It is analyzed that it is similar to one semi-medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) fired by North Korea on the 27th of last month.

At the time, our military authorities defined it as a ballistic missile, but North Korea claimed that it was a test to test the performance of a camera used for a reconnaissance satellite being developed.

Experts analyze that North Korea will continue to fire missiles until the month following Kim Il-sung's birthday, making the same claim this time.

In particular, analysis is coming out that today's armed demonstration was a presidential election-conscious armed demonstration in that it was held on the second day of the second day of early voting, four days before the presidential election day (March 9).

There is also an interpretation that the US was trying to enhance its negotiating power with the US while the international situation was unstable, such as the US-Russian conflict escalating due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The Blue House held an emergency meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) standing committee presided over by National Security Office Director Suh Hoon to discuss countermeasures.
