On March 4, local time, a fire broke out in the detention center of the Taguig City Police Department in Metro Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The fire lasted for 25 minutes and injured at least 50 detainees.

  Demetrio Sablan Jr., a local fire department official, said the fire started around 12:10 p.m. that day, was under control 15 minutes later, and was extinguished at 12:35.

After the fire, the injured were taken to the hospital for treatment.

In addition, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
