A 25-year-old detainee was tried by the Avignon Criminal Court (Vaucluse) on Wednesday.

He was sentenced to two years in prison, accompanied by continued detention and a ban on French territory for a period of ten years, reports

On February 6, the defendant violently assaulted another inmate using a razor blade in the Pontet prison.

A sutured artery

He came up from behind and hit him in the neck.

The victim, in his twenties, was hit in an artery.

Ten days of ITT were prescribed to him.

While trying to intervene during the attack, a supervisor also received a punch in the face which left him hairy for 4 days of ITT.

During the hearing, the young man explained that he had acted because he suffered assaults and harassment within the prison.

He also claimed that he was not the author of the punch on the prison guard.

However, the court found him guilty and sentenced him.
