At the association's annual meeting now on Monday 7 March, in connection with a strategic plan to be achieved in 2027, the decision will be made.
- One of the sporting goals is football in the association for girls and by extension women's football, we want more girls to start playing football, says Marcus Rosenlund, club manager Kalmar FF.
At present, Kalmar FF only runs boys' and men's football.
How fast can it be possible to start a girls team in Kalmar FF?
- It's a bit up to me.
If the proposal goes through, this can become a reality already after the holidays.
Is there a plan for a merger with IFK Kalmar in the long run?
- Not at the moment.
IFK Kalmar wants to see a merger
According to IFK Kalmar's club manager, a deeper collaboration has been proposed earlier, no later than 2021. A motion that Kalmar FF's members did not support.
- I can see the difficulty with a merger of two traditional clubs like our two in Kalmar.
But we have already started a collaboration in that we will play our home matches at Guldfågeln arena, says Stefan Einarsson club manager IFK Kalmar.
Can there be an opening in the extension, do you think?
- Yes, Kalmar FF's women's team would then have to start in div 4 and it is a long way to the Allsvenskan in that case.
There will not be any direct competition between the teams in sports and with sponsors in the same way.
But I think there will be openings.
No hard feelings between the clubs then?
- No, we have daily contact and have already started a collaboration in that we will play our home matches at Kalmar FF's arena.
