Police were called to the scene at 10.30 on Friday morning after a private individual found an object outdoors that is not usually located there.
The object was found in a parking lot and is considered sharp.
An area around Patrons väg, Rapsbaggegatan and Bladbaggegatan is cordoned off.
The national bomb squad has been called in and an inspection of the object is currently underway.
- We have been in contact with the residents by phone and asked them to stay indoors.
They are not allowed to leave their apartments or houses, says police spokesman Patric Fors.
School nearby keeps students inside
Gottorpsskolan is located very close to the cordoned off area.
According to information to SVT Nyheter Skåne, the police have been in contact with the school management and urged them to ensure that no students leave the school building.
The front doors have therefore been closed for entry and exit and school staff have walked around the classes to inform the students and maintain calm.
