Saudi Arabia... "Anti-Corruption" arrested 143 officials on charges of bribery and forgery

The Control and Anti-Corruption Authority in Saudi Arabia revealed, yesterday, Friday, that it had arrested 143 officials in 6 ministries last month on charges including bribery and forgery.

And the government authority indicated in a statement published on its Twitter account that it conducted 5,072 oversight rounds during the past month, during which it launched an investigation from 544 officials.

The commission added that it had arrested 143 officials, including those who were released on bail.

She pointed out that the parties that witnessed these incidents were the Ministries of Defense, Interior, Health, Justice, Education, Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.

"Bribery, abuse of power, abuse of authority, forgery" were among the most prominent crimes of financial and administrative corruption that were investigated, according to the statement.

And on Thursday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said, "Our battle with corruption does not tolerate any transgressor, even if he stole $100."

He added in an interview with the American magazine "Atlantic", published by "Al Arabiya" channel: "If it were not for our response to corruption, there would be no growth, no competent ministers, and no foreign investment."
