A microlight gyroplane crashed late Wednesday morning in the forest of Vaux-Saules (Côte-d'Or).
The sole occupant of the craft, the 60-year-old pilot, died in the crash.
The Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the department indicated to
Public Good
that the rescuers had encountered difficulties in reaching the scene of the tragedy.
Mobilization of firefighters specialized in hazardous environments
The area is indeed particularly difficult to access.
Rescue officials therefore requested the intervention of a team from the Group for recognition and intervention in dangerous environments (Grimp).
In addition to these specialists, 20 firefighters belonging to several surrounding barracks were dispatched to the site, near Saint-Seine-l'Abbaye (Côte-d'Or).
The investigation aimed at determining the causes of the ULM crash began with the findings made in the woods by the gendarmes.
The soldiers were accompanied by technicians specialized in criminal identification operations.
