A fox attacked a walker and her two dogs in Vivier-au-Court (Ardennes), this Tuesday, March 1, shortly after 5 p.m.

The animal threw itself on the two canids.

He cut the leash of one of them and “crunched his ribs,” the mayor of the town told

The chihuahua did not survive.

The walker managed to save the other by intervening and was not herself injured.

Hunters and trappers alerted

The municipal police appealed to trappers and hunters to neutralize the fox which would have been seen in the streets of the town, indicates the local newspaper.

The town hall indicated on Facebook that it had solicited "the lieutenants of cubs who can shoot foxes".

She calls on residents and walkers to avoid the area where the attack took place.

This surprising aggressiveness while the fox is an animal that fears humans could be explained by a possible gestation or by the recent birth of foxes, explains

L'Ardennais
