The Russian convoy, where military vehicles are lined up, is now less than 30 kilometers from the center of Kiev.

Yesterday, however, the US Department of Defense stated that the convoy is now stationary.

"According to our estimates, it has not made any significant progress in the last 24 to 36 hours," said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby.

The reason is probably that the convoy is now regrouping and evaluating the situation, according to Kirby.

Logistical problems and the opposition from Ukrainians can also play a role, he says.

It has previously been said that the convoy lacks both fuel and food.
