White paper: The level of competitive sports for the disabled in my country is constantly improving

  Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, March 3. The State Council Information Office released a white paper titled "Development of Sports for the Disabled in China and Protection of Rights", which stated that the level of competitive sports for the disabled in my country has been continuously improved.

  The white paper shows that Chinese disabled athletes have performed well in major international disabled sports events.

During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the Chinese disabled sports delegation participated in 160 international events and won 1,114 gold medals.

  The white paper pointed out that the successful bid for the Beijing Winter Paralympics has brought great opportunities for the development of the Chinese Winter Paralympic Movement.

China attaches great importance to the preparations for the Winter and Paralympic Games, and has formulated and implemented a series of action plans.

China will have 96 athletes participating in the Beijing Winter Paralympic Games in all 6 major sports and 73 small events.

  According to the white paper, the training guarantee mechanism for disabled athletes in my country has been gradually improved.

A four-level amateur training system for disabled athletes has been established and perfected, including county-level discovery and selection, municipal-level training and improvement, provincial-level training and competition, and national key training for disabled athletes.
