The name "Bush" may still have a few lines in the great history of American politics.
George P. Bush, grandson and nephew of the two former presidents of the United States and the latest member of the dynasty, assured that he was in the running to become attorney general of Texas.
He said Wednesday it was "time for the next generation of conservative leaders."
Unlike his uncle George W. Bush, George P. Bush claims to support former President Donald Trump.
At 45, he promises to "finish the wall" of Donald Trump on the southern border of the United States, or to "fight electoral fraud", a reference to the accusations repeatedly denied of irregularities in the presidential election of 2020.
Yet it was his rival Ken Paxton, the current attorney general, who had received the support of Donald Trump this summer, despite several ongoing legal cases.
Ken Paxton came first in the primary which opposed them on Tuesday, without however obtaining the necessary majority.
An election at the end of May will decide between them.
