Russia and Ukraine agree on a temporary ceasefire and establish humanitarian corridors to evacuate civilians

At the conclusion of the second round of negotiations in Belarus, the Russian and Ukrainian delegations announced that they had reached an understanding on establishing humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians and a temporary ceasefire in them.

Head of the Russian delegation to the negotiations, Vladimir Medinsky, noted that the two sides discussed humanitarian and military issues and the issue of a future political settlement, and were able to find understanding on some issues.

He said that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to establish humanitarian corridors to evacuate the population and the possibility of a temporary ceasefire there.

In turn, Adviser to the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Mikhail Podolyak, confirmed the agreement to jointly guarantee humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of medicines and food, with a temporary ceasefire in those areas.

He added that the Ukrainian side "did not achieve the result that it had hoped for" and that the dialogue will continue in the third round of negotiations, which is planned to be held as soon as possible.

The two sides expected to continue negotiations in the coming days.
