As Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues for a week, casualties continue to grow.

The Associated Press and Reuters reported that at least 2,000 civilians have been killed in Russian attacks since the start of the war on the 24th of last month, citing Ukraine's disaster relief authorities.

Since the start of the war, more than 400 fires have been caused by Russian attacks, including 10 rescue workers among the dead.

This is far more than the number of civilian deaths in Ukraine estimated by the United Nations.

The UN estimates that 136 civilians, including 13 children, have been killed in Ukraine since the start of the war.

The mayor of Mariupol said there were also massive casualties in Mariupol, a port city in southern Ukraine besieged by Russian forces.
