On Wednesday, local special health care management will be activated at Norrland University Hospital due to the high workload, the region announces in a press release.
Skellefteå Hospital is already in a so-called staff position.
- We need to ensure the urgent need at the same time as we need to handle care that has been postponed so far during the pandemic, says Ulrica Bergström, area manager for county health care area 2 in the press release.
Appeals to nursing graduates
The region is now looking for people with nursing education who can imagine working extra in Lycksele, Skellefteå or Umeå during this period of extreme stress.
All staff with nursing education in the region are encouraged to show up in the care.
We also appeal to former employees and students to get in touch to be helping hands.
