In South Korea, the number of newly infected people per day exceeded 200,000 for the first time due to the influence of the mutant virus of the new coronavirus, Omicron strain.

The Korean government has relaxed restrictions on restaurant users from the 1st of this month, but is calling for continued measures such as additional vaccination.

According to South Korean health officials, the number of new cases of new corona confirmed on the 1st was 219,241, exceeding 200,000 for the first time, the highest number ever.

In South Korea, the spread of the Omicron strain of the mutant virus has not stopped the spread, and health officials say that the number of infected people per day will reach up to 350,000 from the beginning to the middle of this month.

On the other hand, the Korean government has focused on reducing the number of seriously ill and dead rather than controlling the number of infected people, and has relaxed some of the regulations introduced as an infection control from the 1st.

Specifically, the system that requires users such as restaurants and karaoke shops to show vaccination proof and negative proof was stopped, and if a cohabitant is infected, it is obligatory for those who have not been vaccinated. We have abolished the 7-day quarantine.

Regarding this, Prime Minister Kim Bu-gyeom said at the government's countermeasures meeting held on the 2nd, "I would like to emphasize that even if some measures are relaxed, the importance of vaccination will never change." He called for continued measures such as booster vaccination.
