Japanese parliament condemns transfer of Russia's containment forces to special regime

“Japan, as the only country affected by nuclear weapons, condemns this,” TASS quotes the text of the resolution.

The parliamentarians also called for the withdrawal of troops to Russian territory.

On March 1, a similar resolution was adopted by the lower house of the Japanese Diet.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov to transfer the containment forces of the Russian army to a special mode of combat duty.

According to him, the highest officials of Western states "allow aggressive statements" against Russia.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the country's government considers putting the Russian army's containment forces on special combat duty as a dangerous act that increases instability.
