The president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, explained this Wednesday that he had made a "hasty but thoughtful" decision in relation to the leadership of the PP, although he has assured that he will not leave Galicia for at least "in a month".
During a colloquium at the Santiago Rey Fernández-Latorre Museum together with the director of La Voz de Galicia, Xosé Luis Vilela, Núñez Feijóo explained that this afternoon he will meet with the executive of the Galician PP and will appear to announce a decision on leading the party, that supposes "a combination of meditation and precipitation, although it seems contradictory".
"A decision that I never thought I would have to make", highlighted the president of Galicia, who has justified that the events of the last two weeks have forced him to make a decision that "has neither been sought nor coveted".
Asked about the compatibility between presiding over the Xunta and the PP, Núñez Feijóo said that "it is perfectly possible to be president of a community and a party."
"I am not going to leave Galicia in a month", the president of the Xunta has remarked, since his intention in March and April is to "continue with the planning" of the government.
"From there we will see what happens", added Núñez Feijóo, who has endorsed his commitment to fulfill his obligations in Galicia and his "possible future obligations".
Finally, he has said that he will assume the decision that "corresponds to him" but not because of the insistence of the opposition in Parliament, which invites him to resign.
