During a defense and national security council chaired by Emmanuel Macron, "we shared a positive observation: the fall in the epidemic continues" and "we have just lifted the state of health emergency in Guyana and in Mayotte," said government spokesman Gabriel Attal after the cabinet meeting.

The decree issued by the Council of Ministers "puts an early end to this state of health emergency", which was declared on January 5, 2022 and extended until March 31, 2022.

The incidence rate had fallen on March 1 to 57 per 100,000 people, against 170 on February 15.

The white plan has already been lifted and the prefect has put an end to the curfew measures.

In Mayotte, the improvement in the health situation led to the lifting of curfew measures on January 28, 2022, and as of February 27, 2022, the rolling seven-day incidence rate had fallen to 10 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

On January 5, the government declared a state of health emergency in Guadeloupe, Guyana, Mayotte, Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélémy, overseas territories where, under the effect of the Omicron variant, the circulation of Covid -19 was experiencing a "considerable increase".

For its part, Martinique has been in a state of emergency since December 8 and Reunion Island since December 27.

It was also declared on February 2 in New Caledonia.
