Sweden has given aid and support to Ukraine even before.

In addition, the Armed Forces has trained Ukraine's military since 2015 through Operation Unifier.

Following Russia's launch of the full-scale invasion on 24 February, several new additions have been announced.

Military support

On February 27, the government announced that Sweden would send military equipment, including weapons, to Ukraine.

No similar decision has been made since the Finnish Winter War of 1939.

This involves equipment worth approximately SEK 400 million.

  • 5,000 armor shots (Armor Shot 86)

  • 5,000 safety vests

  • 5,000 helmets

  • 135,000 field rations

In addition to the materiel, it has been decided to support the Ukrainian military with SEK 500 million.

Medical equipment

Ukraine has also requested support with medical equipment.

The Government has decided that Sweden will contribute the following:

  • One million mouth guards

  • 10,000 bandages

  • 50 fans

  • 100,000 liters of disinfectant

  • Other protective equipment

However, the Swedish regulations prevent people from donating medicines through pharmacy companies, according to the government.
