In Congo Kinshasa, the Muslim community between two fires

,

Africans were at the heart of the construction of our modern world

,

Bolloré, a pan-African empire

.

So many titles that illustrate the desire of

Afrique XXI

to be free and above all to bring a different perspective.

“

Afrique XXI is an independent site but we don't do news strictly speaking.

We use the news to try to bounce back and bring an offbeat, sometimes historical look.

For example, when the Thomas Sankara trial started, we decided to offer things on the side.

And we notably unearthed

an interview of Thomas Sankara by René Vautier

which had been somewhat forgotten.

So we republished it and then we became interested in the people who have fought for years for justice to be done on this case of the assassination of Thomas Sankara and his comrades

, "explains Rémi Carayol who coordinates the magazine's editorial board.

Africa XXI today needs financial support.

It's a free access site, because we don't want to charge for access to articles and refuses advertising.

We have no shareholders.

Our only source of funding is our readers.

Our objective is 40,000 euros.

This money will be used to develop us and above all to properly remunerate all the authors who write for the site

”, specifies Rémi Carayol.

The Franco-Djiboutian writer Abdourahaman Wabéri is also behind this Africa XXI adventure.

He considers it essential, while the press is going through difficult times, to bring different analyzes to the continent.

The more varied, different titles that combine depth and relevance in a free magazine on African issues created by journalists and academics, the better!

»

The founders of Afrique XXI hope to raise 40,000 euros.

Mainly to pay the authors and have the title developed.

The call for donations, posted on the magazine's website

, ends Friday, March 4, 2022.
