The war in Ukraine continues to rage.

Since the start of the Russian invasion, 660,000 people have fled the country.

These refugees, in their vast majority, leave their land by the west, towards Poland.

At the Przemysl humanitarian post, 20 kilometers from the border, there are many refugees.

Europe 1 is on site.

The UN General Assembly will address the humanitarian crisis in an emergency special session on Tuesday.

A session that will probably last until tomorrow.

These refugees from the war in Ukraine, in their vast majority, leave the country by the west, in particular by Poland.

At the Przemysl humanitarian post, 20 kilometers from the border, the refugees are redirected through other Polish towns.

Europe 1 went there.

"We want to live in peace"

Buses depart from Przemysl to all of Poland.

They are constant comings and goings.

Shuttles are also organized with the border post.

They drop off helpless Ukrainians in the middle of this large parking lot that has become an anthill between food distribution and a Red Cross tent.

Darina stands on her crutch.

She's waiting for a car to pick her up, but it's a temporary solution, she says.

"We have a sister in Poland. Europe is good, but I want to see my family reunited. I want to live at home... Where I was born, where I have my friends, where I studied, our Ukraine is so beautiful. We want to live in peace," she says with tears in her eyes.

A small group from Europe hastily fills a truck.

"This bus is going to Ukraine, to a city that was bombed on Monday. It's a one-way ticket," explains Maxime.

Trucks like this leave every day to bring food and medicine to Ukrainians under fire.

"All drivers who are under 60 have to keep fighting. Me, I help a little more and then I'll go. Who else is going to fight for Ukraine?"

Every day, refugees show up here along with volunteers who improvise and find help in the region.

How to organize the reception of Ukrainian refugees?

Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian was also in Poland with his German counterpart on Tuesday morning to coordinate humanitarian aid between European countries.

France is already hosting some of the many refugees.

At the European level, the response will be done in two stages.

First of all, the priority is to receive refugees in distress unconditionally and then, the distribution of migrants in the countries of the European Union (EU).

The subject was raised for the first time last Sunday by the 27 European Justice and Interior Ministers, and a decision was taken, for 90 days any Ukrainian national can move freely in all EU countries. .

Moreover, the SNCF has announced free admission to all Ukrainians traveling on board TGVs and Intercités.

European interior ministers will meet again next Thursday to prepare a temporary protection regime to go beyond the 90 days.

Finally, the French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, is currently bringing together all the prefects to take stock of the reception capacities for refugees in the departments.

According to information from Europe 1, the Minister of the Interior has just written to all the mayors to encourage those who wish to approach the prefects to welcome refugees.
