Ukraine's ambassador to the United Nations strongly criticized Russia's directive to strengthen the borders of its nuclear weapons units as crazy.

In response, the Russian ambassador to the United Nations responded that it was helping the Donbas region, which is demanding secession and independence.

UN Secretary-General Guterres, who took the first podium at the UN Emergency Special Session convened to discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine, said, "It is frightening that Russia has strengthened the vigilance of its nuclear-armed forces. It is unimaginable,” he warned.

"The deaths of civilians, including children, are absolutely unacceptable," he said.

Ukrainian ambassador to the United Nations Sergei Kislijah said in a speech: "Even while we were on our way to the General Assembly today, Russian forces opened fire with multiple rocket launchers on residential areas of Ukraine's second city, Kharkov." "Innocent civilians were killed and injured." said.

"After Russian President Putin issued an order to strengthen the vigilance posture of Russia's nuclear-armed forces, the level of threat to global security has risen similar to or higher than that of World War II," he said.

"If Ukraine does not survive, international peace and the United Nations will not survive either," he said.

Russia, on the other hand, claimed that the Ukrainian government was first hostile to the people of Donbas, who demanded secession and independence, and that Russia was exercising its right to self-defense.

Many countries, mainly the West, criticized Russia and called for an end to the war, but China, Russia's traditional ally, did not criticize Russia, urging for a peaceful resolution through dialogue.

Zhang Jun, Chinese ambassador to the United Nations, said, "There is nothing to gain by starting a new Cold War."

The meeting was held as the UN Security Council (Security Council) voted to convene an emergency special meeting the day before.

Recently, the adoption of a resolution on the Ukraine crisis was canceled due to the exercise of veto by Russia, a permanent member of the Security Council.

The emergency special meeting was held for the 11th time since the Korean War in 1950 as a meeting method to deal with the paralysis of the Security Council due to the exercise of the veto by the permanent members.

Given that more than 100 countries have applied for remarks at this special meeting, a UN resolution condemning the invasion of Ukraine and demanding an immediate Russian withdrawal of troops is expected to be voted on on the 2nd.

Given the current international public opinion, it is highly likely that the resolution will be adopted, but unlike the Security Council resolution, the resolution of the General Assembly is not legally binding.

However, the number of countries voting in favor of the resolution seems to be accepted by the international community as a measure of how isolated Russia is.
